If you like watching your favorite TV shows and movies but don’t want to keep paying the prices associated with cable and satellite companies, then a streaming service is likely the best option. However, only one or two streaming services, such as Netflix, Dish Latino, or Hulu, likely won’t give you all of the content that you want. Several media companies are offering their own services and have classics for the older generation and newer releases for those who are younger. Disney, Peacock, and Apple are examples. Amazon Prime Video, Shudder, and Fubo are services that have been available for some time. With the wide range of services that are available, it can be difficult to determine which one you want to subscribe to and can be difficult for the companies as they have to compete in order to keep their customers with the best prices and content. If you’re not careful, then you could spend more money on streaming services than a cable bill. Fortunately, there are a few things that you can do to get the most out of the services that you choose.
Switching Around
When you choose a TV streaming service, you usually aren’t locked into it for a year like you would be with cable companies. This means that you can subscribe to one service for a month and then switch to another service that offers different content for another month. Since you’ll usually only watch one show or movie at a time, this is an option to consider so that you’re not spending more than you have to for services that you might not use as much as others. Choose a service that offers the content that you’ve been waiting to view for the first month before switching to another service that offers newer shows and movies or shows that you’ve been waiting to be released. Once you pay the fee for the month, you want to cancel the service so that you’re not charged for the following month and so that you’re sure to be able to watch the content that’s available for the remainder of the month.
Algorithms
When you find a show or movie that you like, make sure you bookmark it or give it a good rating. Streaming services pay attention to these details and offer their suggestions for what you might like based on what you’ve enjoyed in the past. You also want to let the service know what you don’t like so that you’re not shown content that you just skip over.
Critics
Talk to a few people who watch the same kind of content as you to get their input about the best services that are available and new shows and movies that you should see. Read reviews that are posted online by other people who use the same streaming services that you like to find out what’s at the top of the list of content to view.
Plan Ahead
Consider making a plan for the shows and movies that each streaming service has to offer for at least a few months. This can make it easy to determine which service you can cancel for a month or two and which ones you know that you want to maintain until there is no longer any content that you’re interested in watching while you head over to another service.
